After riding my bike approximately five miles on Monday, I just knew I wouldn't be able to get out of bed on Tuesday, but miracle of miracles I was able to.

Trumann is a hard town to navigate on a bike. You basically just have to ride on the street and pray courteous drivers won't mow you down.

The sidewalks can be bumpy in a number of areas to prohibit safe bike riding. I am just so thankful this isn't my only mode of transportation.

I also have to say it is difficult to walk or ride a bike without being offered a ride. It is so unusual for person's to ride or walk for health benefits that many kind neighbors offer help.

LOL..I feel you on this one. It would be nice if the town maybe could put a bicycle/walking trail from Wal-Mart through the main part of town and around it. Humm nice thought there...I wonder if the city has thought about that one. I mean if the busy city of Jonesboro can come up with the idea of making one that starts at the ASU campus to the Turtle Creek Mall then I think we should be capable of making one here. It would help traffic rage when the older persons are on the wheel chairs or scooters in the middle of the road causing traffic back up. It would also give people the chance to get that exercise from bike riding or walking safely. Until then happy bike riding.

I am a former employee of the Trumann Democrat, during my time at the paper I was general manager, office manager, editor, paginator, photographer, columnist, paper deliverer, reporter, cleaning lady, and anything else as needed. It sounds like a lot, and it was, but it was fun. But most fun of all I wrote and will continue to write an award winning weekly column for the Trumann Democrat. I am married to James McClung, we are both lifetime residents of Trumann and graduates of Trumann High School. We have two children, Leah Elizabeth, 4, and Campbell, 2. I will begin teaching high school English to students in grades 9 - 12 at Turrell High School.
