Your paper has a new name
Posted Thursday, July 9, at 4:03 PM
As you picked up your hometown paper this week you might have noticed a little something different about the front page. The Tri-City Tribune and Trumann Democrat have merged to form the Poinsett County Democrat Tribune. We are all so excited about the change, and all the new things we will have to offer you, our readers.

Some of you in other areas of the county may be enjoying our paper for the first time this week. Please let me take this opportunity to say hello. I hope you'll become a regular part of our family of readers.

We hope you like the new design of the paper, but I hope you'll take the time to browse the pages and enjoy the wide variety of stories from across the county. You'll find the same news you've always come to expect from your hometown paper with the addition of new information about some of your neighbors and friends.

If you read our paper online, you will also notice that our website has changed. If you are used to logging on to one of the old websites, you'll be redirecting to our new website, www.democrattribune.com. If you were a registered user of the previous sites you won't have to do anything to enjoy commenting on the new site. Your username and password will still be the same. Those who aren't registered may still register for a free user account. We hope you'll stop by to comment on an article or vote in one of our online polls.

After you've had time to read through the first edition, please give me a call or send me an e-mail to let me know what you think. We're always looking for ways to improve, and would appreciate your feedback. I can be reached by phone at 888-483-6317 or by e-mail at poinsettdteditor@centurytel.net.

We're looking forward to a bright future for Poinsett County.

Change has come (no matter who you voted for)
Posted Friday, November 7, at 1:45 PM

So our country has a new president, and "change" is upon us. This has been the longest presidential race in history with over 21 months of campaigning. It's amazing how passionate people can be about politics. First there were the primaries where the parties themselves were divided. Passionate people picked a side. Then the parties chose their candidates and the people on the losing side had to realign those passions with their party's candidate...

Time change
Posted Monday, November 3, at 11:46 AM

People seem to be in disagreement about whether daylight savings time is a positive thing or not. Personally, I enjoyed the "extra" hour of sleep. What do you think?

Tornado hits close to home
Posted Wednesday, May 7, at 12:54 AM

Friday was a memorable day for many Arkansans, some of which lost loved ones in the tornados that ripped through the state. We saw our own devastation locally as houses and businesses in Etowah were completely destroyed. Earle also suffered substantial damage...

Tornado comes through Tri-City Area
Posted Friday, May 2, at 4:37 PM

A tornado passed through Marked Tree this afternoon. There were no reports of the storm touching down, but there was visible rotation. I stood in the street and watched as the dark clouds were twirling around. It was pretty spooky. Suddenly the sky seemed to suck the dark clouds back up into the atmosphere and continued to move toward Lepanto...
