Not that you asked
For some reason, our Congressman, Rick Crawford doesn't want to be famous. He gave up his seat on the House Intelligence Committee the week before it began TV hearings on impeachment. Actually, I doubt that it was Crawford's decision. That's because he was replaced by Jim Jordan of Ohio.
Jordan is not just a supporter of the President. He seems to be in a daily contest with Sean Hannity to see which one of them can shower Trump with the most praise, or defend him most vigorously. If Trump were found on the street with a bloody knife in his hand, and a dead man at his feet with a stab wound in the back, Jordan would race Hannity to be the first to defend him. He would claim that Trump was merely admiring the knife he had just bought (For more money than any knife has ever cost) when the man, who was jogging backwards down the street ran into it.
That has to be why the Republican leadership in the House wanted to put Jordan on the panel just as it was about to begin televised hearings. After all, before the hearings came up, Jordan was one of the most despised members of Congress--by his fellow Republicans. Also, he has proved in the past that he can't find the truth when it is handed to him.
Before entering politics, Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University. At the same time there was a doctor on the staff, Richard Strauss, who was molesting at least 177 athletes, as well as preying on boys attending athletic camps at the school. He did this during the course of two decades.
Now, obviously, Strauss was very good at hiding his activities, since he was able to do it for such a long period. The problem for Jordan is that the school has been sued by former athletes molested by Strauss, who as a result, committed suicide. Some of the testimony is not good for Jordan.
Two of Strauss' victims, a wrestler and a referee, have testified that they reported the doctor's behavior to Jordan. Several of the athletes have testified that Strauss' activities were an open secret on campus. The referee testified that when he reported to Jordan and the head coach that he had witnessed the doctor performing a sexual act in the shower, Jordan shrugged and said, "That's just Strauss"
Now, of course, Jordan is saying that all of the witnesses are lying, and playing the victim card by claiming that the lawsuit is a plot to get him. Yeah, that makes lots of sense. All of these athletes are suing Ohio State, not because it allowed a pervert to attack students, but because they want to attack Jim Jordan. Jim, you've been around your hero Trump too long. This is not just about you.
After watching the hearings for two weeks, I can see why Jordan couldn't see what was going on even as he was told about it. In fact, all of his fellow Republicans on the committee seem to have the same problem finding the truth.
The witnesses that appeared were not politicians. They were current and former diplomats and State Department officials. One after another they confirmed the fact that the President did, in fact, hold up military aid to Ukraine until that country's president publicly announced an investigation of the oil company that hired Hunter Biden. Jordan and his pals completely rejected this, but clung to two stories that have been proven false. One is that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 election. The other was that Biden forced the removal of a Ukrainian official supposedly investigating his son.
If these clowns had been running Europe back in 1492, Columbus would never have discovered America. They would never have been the chance because these leaders would still be insisting that the world was flat.
