Rodney "Ronnie" Earl Brown was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Tupelo, Miss., to Melvin and Ruby West Brown. Mr. Brown passed away Aug. 27, 2011, in Memphis, Tenn. He was a resident of West Memphis, Ark., and was a retired truck stop manager. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lisa Brown, and one brother, Dwight Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by three daughters, Andria "Dee Dee" Hodge (Victor) and Elizabeth Brown, both of West Memphis and Angela Rena Yant of Aberdeen, Miss.; one son, Jeremy Brown of West Memphis; four sisters, Faye Robinson of Jonesboro, Shirley Jean Morris of Gilmore, Ark., Joyce Patsy Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Linda Gail Cox of West Memphis; one brother, Donald "Bo" Wayne Brown of Heth, Ark., and one grandson, Chase Dalton Yant of Aberdeen, Miss. Services were held Aug. 30, 2011, at Grace Baptist Church in West Memphis with Bro. Eugene Ray, Bro. David Young and Bro. C.L. Robinson officiating. Mr. Brown was buried at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark.

Larry Gordon Doherty

Larry Gordon Doherty, 68, of Leachville, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born Nov. 18, 1942 in Senath, Mo., he was the son of the late Ira and Ethel Rouse Doherty and had been a long time area resident. Mr. Doherty was a lifetime member of the New Providence Baptist Church in Buckeye and had been a truck driver for 35 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and the United States Army. He valued the simple pleasures in life such as talking on CB radios, watching westerns and relaxing. His family would like for him to be remembered as a very loving father that never met a stranger and liked to laugh. He is survived by four sons, Larry "Casey" Doherty and wife Trisa of Krum, Texas, Paul Cameron Doherty of Aubrey, Texas, Shannon Christopher Doherty of Aubrey, Texas, and Kenny Luis Brown and wife Jolie of Hornersville, Mo.; two brothers, States Skipper of Ozark, Mo., and Don Simpkins of Paragould; one sister, Barbara Morris of Leachville. Mr. Doherty also leaves five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a very special friend Mrs. Willie Huskey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Doherty was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Jane Doherty; one brother, J.R. Doherty, and one grandson, Shawn Brown. Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the New Providence Baptist Church in Buckeye with Rev. David Powell officiating. Interment was in the Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Ark., in charge of arrangements. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at the church. Pallbearers were Nathan Doherty, Tanner Doherty, Tate Doherty, Casey Doherty, Shannon Doherty, Todd Skipper and Kenny Brown.

Mary Ruth Wyrick Pierce

Mrs. Mary Ruth Wyrick Pierce, 62, of Kennett, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at the NHC Healthcare in Kennett. Born March 16, 1949, in Auburndale, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Richard and June Neighbors Wyrick and had been a long-time area resident. Mrs. Pierce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornersville, Mo., and she enjoyed fishing, crafts and she loved her dog McKenna very much. She is survived by one son, Billy Wyrick and wife Dellena of Hornersville, Mo.; one daughter, Teshia Edmondston of Paragould, Ark.; four brothers, Johnny Wyrick of Kennett, Mo., Dwit Wyrick of Hornersville, Mo., Bond Wyrick of Hornersville, Mo., and Remer Wyrick of Kennett, Mo.; two sisters, Eva Wyrick and Sue Wyrick, both of Kennett, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brittany Wyrick, Ryan Wyrick, Caitlyn Edmondston, Myra Edmondston and Chloe Edmondston; one great-grandchild, Bella Grace Napier. Mrs. Pierce also leaves a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pierce was also preceded in death by a brother, Reeves Wyrick, and two sisters, Kathy Wyrick and Sarah Wyrick. The family has requested a private service and disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Ark.

Gerald Ray "Buckshot" Cunningham

Mr. Gerald Ray "Buckshot" Cunningham passed away on Aug. 26, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., after a lengthy illness. He was a retired medical equipment and insurance salesman and a graduate of Arkansas State University, where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, O.L. Cunningham and Lucille Stacy. Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Linda McCarty Cunningham; two sons, Chad (Faith) of Collierville, Tenn., and Heath (Michelle) of Clarksville, Tenn.; five grandchildren which he adored, Taylor and Cody of Hernando, Miss., and McKinley, Campbell, and Cord of Clarksville, Tenn.; one sister, Kay (Ronald) Massey of Jonesboro, Ark. Gerald was an avid golfer up until his health prevented him from playing. He was a member of Windyke Country Club and a member of Germantown United Methodist Church. A celebration memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, Ark. The family received friends before the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Because golf was so much a part of his leisure time, the family asked anyone that chose to attend the service to wear golf attire as that is what he always wanted to wear. Services were directed by Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with Rev. Larry Loggins conducting the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Childrens Hospital as he was a volunteer at the St. Jude Golf Classic for 20 years. TRUMANN -- Mrs. Dixie June Roberts, 72, of Trumann, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born in Harrisburg, Ark., and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a sales representative for CenterPoint Energy, in 1980 was recognized as one of Arkansas Distinguished Sales Award honorees, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trumann. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents, Odus Henry and Florence Josephine Houston Terry. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, James Galen Roberts; three brothers, Gene Terry of Trumann, Dean Terry of Harrisburg and David Terry of Las Vegas, Nev.; nieces and nephews, James (J.D.), Mary June, Dianna, Debbie, Danyell and Justin. Funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial was in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. TRUMANN -- Mrs. Leona Brock, 97, of Trumann died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born and had lived her lifetime in Trumann. Mrs. Brock was the oldest remaining member of Freer Baptist Church in Trumann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus M. Brock; two brothers, Floyd and Ernest Richards; six sisters, Elmer Ballard, Emma Adams, Myrtle Martin, Irene Edwards, Inez Allen and Lorene Richards, and her parents, Ernest and Melissia Richards. Mrs. Brock was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. In the last years, one of her greatest joys was being with her great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brock (Momma/Nanny) gave to her family an abundance of love and left many loving and kind memories. Survivors include one daughter, Dorcas Wyatt and husband Hershel of Trumann; two grandchildren, Pam Castille and Carrie Hendrix and husband Steve; three great-grandchildren, Jodi Richardson and husband Ronnie, Wyatt Kenley and wife Micha, and Julia Nicole Castille; and two great-great-grandchildren, Connor and Chloe Richardson. Graveside service was Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Larry Loggins officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. TRUMANN - Mrs. Patsy A. "Pat" Marvel, 75, of Trumann died Saturday morning at the family residence. Mrs. Marvel was born and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a retired employee of Trumann Water Works and a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Trumann. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin A. Marvel; one sister, Jane Marvel, and was the daughter of the late R.V. and Lela Mangrum Robbins. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Walter T. Marvel of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Judy Stanis Marvel and husband Carl of Georgetown, Ind.; two grandchildren, Miriam Sophia and Nicolas Aaron Stanis, both of Georgetown, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille McCarty Greer of Trumann and Mrs. Faye Swanner of Chino, Calif. Mrs. Lancaster was a housewife and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Irvin Douglas Lawrence, two grandsons, Jeffery Dewayne McLaughlin and Gary Lawrence; four brothers, Hershell, Willie, L.B. and Warren Martin, two sisters, Dorsic Qualls and Elsie Parker, and her parents, Harvey and Omie Lee Dickerson Martin. Survivors include five daughters, Pamela McLaughlin, Lisa Ealley and Tamela Kay Dever, all of Trumann, Emma Denice Lawrence and Netia Ann Lawrence, both of Bay; three sons, Mark Lawrence of Jonesboro, Doyle Lawrence and Irvin Lawrence, both of Bay; one sister, Lessie Davis of Trumann; three brothers, Jimmie Martin, Earl Martin and J.C. She was born in Philadelphia, Miss., and had lived most of her life in Trumann. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a member of the Providence Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Eddie Cleveland Vance and Artie Missy (Neece) Vance; one son Eddie Lee Brooks Sr., two sisters Lena Pearl Tucker and Mary Prestage, and two brothers, L.C. Vance and Willy Dee Vance. Survivors are her husband of 62-plus years, Bennie Ray Brooks of Harrisburg Ark., three daughters, Viola Louise Chambers of Trumann, Ola Mae Dertinger of Philadelphia, Miss., Norma Sue Bell of Trumann; three sons, Raymond Ray Brooks of Phoenix AZ, Billy Frank Brooks, Bobby Joe Brooks both of Trumann; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Providence Baptist Church in Trumann with Bro. Bobby Brooks, and Bro. Leroy Franks officiating. She was born in Paragould, Ark., and had lived in Trumann for the past 26 years and was formerly of Houston, Texas. Mrs. Wallace was a housewife and member of the First Baptist Church in Trumann. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dillman Lawrence, and her parents, Clarence and Geneva Wilkerson Lawrence. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James R. Wallace of the home; one daughter, Lisa L. Gillett and husband, Humphrey of Fulshear, Texas; one brother, Ray Lawrence of Temple, Texas; and one grandson, James Allen Dozier of Pflugerville, Texas. Teresa Diane Davis, 46, of Trumann, Ark., died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at her home. Born March 31, 1965, she was the daughter of Floyd and Elsie Delassus Montgomery. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Trinity Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Trumann, and she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She is survived by her father, Mr. Floyd Montgomery of Trumann; two sons, Darren W. Bruner and Clydell Davis, Jr., both of Trumann; two daughters, Delta D. Bruner of Tyler, Texas, and Carolyn J. Davis of Trumann; one brother, Darell Montgomery of Trumann; one sister, Carol Davis of Trumann; two grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her mother and an infant sister, Rhonda Montgomery. Graveside funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. David Adams officiating. Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Ark. was in charge of arrangements.

Charles "Bud" Bedford Fletcher, 78, of Bay, Ark., died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Born in Jonesboro, he was the son of the late Ernest and Faye Bettis Fletcher and had been a long time area resident. Mr. Fletcher was a member of the Broadway Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Bay and the VFW in Jonesboro. Mr. Fletcher was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mrs. Linda Fletcher of the home; four sons, Terry Fletcher and wife Tammie of Trumann, Ark., and Chuck Fletcher and wife Dana of Jonesboro, Bryon Fletcher and wife Sherry of Middlesex, N.C., and Jerry Fletcher of Clanton, Ala.; two daughters, Kristen Sloan and husband Jamie of Harrisburg, Ark., and Kathy Utley of Bay; two sisters, Lois Vincent and husband Quillon of Bay and Emma Knighten of Arkadelphia, Ark. Mr. Fletcher also leaves six grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Ruth Fletcher. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Friday, Sept. 30, at the Broadway Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Bay. Roy Edwin Rosten, 81, of Paragould, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark. Born Dec. 31, 1929, in Negaunee, Mich., he was the son of the late John and Ida Rosten. Mr. Rosten worked many years for Climax Mining Company in Colorado. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and building ships in bottles. He was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by four sons, Craig Rosten and wife Leta of Paragould, Kevin Rosten and wife Kristi of Colorado Springs, Colo., Keith Rosten and wife Barb of Durango, Colo., and Kurt Rosten and wife Carolee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Fred Rosten of Marguette, Mich.; one sister, Lois Rosten; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rosten was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Misty Rosten, three brothers and a sister. He was born in Swifton, Ark., and had lived most of his lifetime In Trumann. Mr. Birmingham was a factory worker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Don Birmingham; two sisters, Sharon Laraine Creecy and Lois June Creecy, and his parents, Richard Gerald and Ritta Myerl Myers Birmingham. Survivors include three sisters, Phillis Whitehurst of El Paso, Ark., Veda Kennedy of Tyronza and Reda Densmore of Turrell, Ark., and one brother, Billy Birmingham of Drasco, Ark. Mary Oline Counce, age 89, died Sept. 23, 2011. Mrs. Counce, a homemaker, was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Counce. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Harlow of Marion, and six sons, James Counce, Jimmy Counce, George Counce, Carl Counce and Donald Ray Counce, all of Marked Tree, and David Counce of Marion. She had 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. The funeral service, conducted by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, was Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, followed by burial in the Tyronza Cemetery in Tyronza, Ark. Funeral services for Marie Depriest were held Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the First Christian Church in Trumann. Mrs. Depriest was 97. She died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born in Pocahontas but lived most of her life in Trumann and was a member of the First Christian Church in Trumann. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Depriest; one daughter, Georgia Cope; three brothers, John F. "Bill" Cook, Sr, Robert Earl Cook and Marvin W. "Jack" Cook; one sister, Agnes Mearl Prichard, and her parents, John Walter and Mazie Sparkman Cook. Mrs. Depriest was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marie was a former cafeteria worker at Trumann Schools, a past employee of Sterling Stores and later retired from the Singer Company. She also cleaned houses and ironed for some of her closer friends. The last years of her life were spent caring for her cats. She loved and cared for those cats, as if they were her children. Survivors include two daughters, Colleen Richards and husband Jerry, and Doris Ridenour; four grandchildren, Connie Bradsher, Kim Huntoon, Lisa Looney and Amy Baker; five great grandchildren, Audrea Baker, Mallory Looney, Logan Looney, Brett Baker and Jackson Baker, as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom she adored. Active pallbearers were Gary Baldwin, Johnny Lee Cook, Arden Robinson, Jr., Bob Richey, Scott Hopkins and Bill Stone. Honorary pallbearers included Larry Holden, Wally Bradsher, Richard Woodruff, Donny Wright, Hunter Robinson and Gary Russell.

He was born in West Memphis, Ark., and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. Mr. Hammonds was a self employed plumber and a member of the First Assembly of God in Trumann. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Renee Hammonds, and his parents, Bobby M. and Loreda Webb Hammonds. Survivors include one daughter, Hillary Hammonds of Trumann; one son, Chandler Hammonds of Trumann; two sisters, Kristin Wilson of Trumann and Sheila Austin of Harrisburg, and one brother, Dewayne Hammonds of Milan, Tenn.
