MARKED TREE - James Earnest "J.E." Stidem, 87, of Marked Tree died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Mr. Stidem was born July 30, 1924, to Jesse and Flossie Stidem. He was a Methodist and a retired oil truck driver for Ritter Oil Company. Mr. Stidem was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, L.D. Stidem, and two sons, Gary and Randy Stidem. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Stidem of the home; daughter-in-law, Connie Stidem of Marked Tree; granddaughter, Misty Hicks (Allen) of Marked Tree; great-grandson, Brayden Hicks, and nephew, Terry Seaton of Jonesboro. Graveside services were Nov. 17 at Marked Tree Cemetery with Rick Kimery officiating. Honorary pallbearer was Brayden Hicks. Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree was in charge of arrangements.

TRUMANN - Mrs Helen M. Reeves, 83, of Trumann died Friday morning, Nov. 25, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born in Trumann, the daughter of Vernon and Juliann Pipkin, and lived most of her life in Trumann. Mrs. Reeves farmed with her husband. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church of Trumann. She enjoyed time spent with family, picking up pecans and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Survivors include her husband, Mayo Reeves of the home; two daughters, Sharon Hopper and husband Cliff of Trumann and Karen Dunkerson of Jonesboro; two sons, Murray Reeves of Trumann and David Reeves and wife Edna of Harrisburg; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral service was Monday morning, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Bro. Darrel Miller and Bro. Leonard Harp officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Pallbearers were Tracy Holt, Ben Barker, Terry Coots, Tommy Coots, Paul Gairhan and Derek Walton. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Davies and Steve Coots. Visitation was Sunday evening, Nov. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. TRUMANN - Mr. James E. Moon, 84, of Trumann, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. He was born in Bay, Ark. He worked for the Singer Company and Trumann Upholstery. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Moon was preceded in death by his parents, Vick and Inez (Doty) Moon; step-mother, Quida Moon; brothers, Bill, Charlie, Tom and Paul Moon, and sisters, Jennette Marby and Rochelle Norman. Survivors include his wife, Auda Bell Moon; sons, James Dennis Moon of Allen, Texas, Roger Moon of Trumann and H. Gregory Moon of Eureka Springs; daughter, Kathie Waymon of Jonesboro; brothers, Floyd Moon of Trumann, Larry Moon of Lake City, Jackie Moon of Bay and Craig Moon of Trumann; sisters, Vicky Holden of Houston, Texas, and Louann Moon of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Roger Moon Jr., Stacy Bailey, Melanie Tiemeier, Jeremy and Derek Waymon, Chelsey Gann, Ryan Vericker, Mat Vericker and Heather Coin, and great-grandchildren, Rylee Bailey, Hadlee Bailey, Hallie Tiemeier, Draven Tiemeier, Olivia Waymon and Ella Waymon. Frederick Charles Carl Kaufman

JONESBORO - Mr. Frederick Charles Carl Kaufman was born June 22, 1935, son of the late Charles H. and Gladys Ada Whitney Kaufman. Mr. Kaufman died Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the age of 76. He was born on the farm of his aunt and uncle, Charles and Evelyn Whitney Green. The farm was located in the Town of Florida, Montgomery County, New York. Frederick's father, Charles, liked to travel and was infatuated with the western way of life in Arizona. Frederick grew up in the back of a 1938 Chevrolet traveling, with his father and mother, from upstate New York to Arizona, California, Florida and back to New York. Frederick attended six grade schools and seven high schools. He attended college at Northwest Mississippi Junior College in Senatobia, Miss., on the GI Bill for two years. He was pledged to Phi Theta Kappa fraternity. Frederick enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept. 2, 1952, and retired from service on Jan. 1, 1972. After leaving the service, he worked as a Factory Service Representative for a business machine company , a production supervisor for Parker Hannifin Inc., and retired because of bad health in 1960. He was a member of McCormick Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Dorothy Connelly, Wilma Leona Ferrara and Emma Louise Donnelly; his parents, and wife, Janet J. Short Kaufman. Survivors include wife, Glenda Richardson Kaufman of Jonesboro, Ark.; one daughter, Marie A. Mabry of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Kurt Charles Kaufman and wife Verla of Rapid City, S.D., and Eric Carl Kaufman of Batesville, Miss.; one grandson , Joseph L. Kaufman of Shreveport, La.; four granddaughters, Benolyn M. Craig and husband Alex of Memphis, Tenn., Melody L. Mabry of Memphis, Tenn., Erica Kaufman of Sardis, Miss., and Dakota Isaacs of Rapid City, S.D.; five great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Rhonda Jones and husband Bobby and Sherry Taylor and husband Scott; three step-grandsons, Jordan Long and wife Emily, Preston Jones and Cameron Jones; three step-granddaughters, Ashton and Josh Carr, Morgan Taylor and Haven Taylor, and one step-great-granddaughter, all of Trumann, Ark. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Burial followed in Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Pallbearers were Gary Beard, Ronnie Samuel, Terry, David and Richie Richardson and Buley Raymond. The men of the McCormick Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers. TRUMANN - Mr. Delvin B. Harlan, 94, of Trumann died Sunday morning, Nov. 27, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ark., and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. He was a veteran of World War II, where he received a Purple Heart, a retired farmer, member of the Trumann Masonic Lodge, and charter member of the First General Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Robertson) Harlan; two sisters, Geraldine Eads and Eddie Faye Eads, and his parents, Golden Kye and Hattie Breeding Harlan. Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Ann Harlan of Jonesboro; one son, Gary Don Harlan of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Holly and Justin Harlan, Melanie Goodwin and Dana Bingham; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Qualls of Kansas City, Mo., and Erma Jean Wood of Pine Bluff, Ark., and one brother, KG Harlan of Jonesboro. Funeral services were Tuesday morning, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. at the First General Baptist Church of Trumann, with Bro. Darrel Miller and Bro. Joey Ruppard officiating. JACKSONVILLE - Martha Annette Harvison, age 73, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2011. She was born April 3, 1938, in Poinsett County, Ark., to the late Vaughn and Molly Eva Harvison. She was a loving mother and a devoted sister. WALNUT RIDGE - Mr. Joe David Crossno, 62, of Walnut Ridge, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. He was born in Jonesboro and had lived in Walnut Ridge for the past 22 years and was formerly of Trumann. Mr. Crossno was a former parts manager for Lawrence County Tractor Company, a 1967 graduate of Trumann High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Trumann. He spent most of his pastime flying model airplanes and working with model trains. He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Crossno, and his second wife, Betty Crossno; one brother, Edwin Sonny Crossno, and was the son of the late Jathen Ray and Sylvia Olene Kendall Crossno. Survivors include one daughter, Holly Leigh Criss and husband Jeff of Bay, Ark.; two grandchildren, Allison Martin and husband Anthony of Bono, Ark., and Christa Arnold of Bay; one sister, Janane Crossno Kidd and husband Ray of Jonesboro, and two nephews, Adam Kidd of Heber Springs, Ark., and Mark Kidd of Portland, Ore. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Criss officiating. William Coin, 80, of Trumann, Ark., died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Born Sept. 16, 1931, in Portia, Ark., he was the son of the late Robert and Ola Willis Coin and had been a long time area resident. Mr. Coin attended The Church of God of Prophecy in Trumann. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, coin collecting, photography, playing games on the computer and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Linda Coin of the home; one son, William S. Coin of Paragould, Ark.; two daughters, Denise Hazelwood of Trumann, Ark., and Robin Ann Prince of Ravenden, Ark.; twin brother, Wilmer Coin of Trumann, Ark.; two sisters, Imogene Mayfield and Jewel Huffmaster, both of Trumann, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Joshua Maxwell, Eric Maxwell, Spencer Maxwell, Reid Coin, Anna Hooker, Erin Hollis and Rachel Hazelwood; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Maxwell, Kyleigh Maxwell, Riley Hollis and Braden Hollis. Mr. Coin also leaves a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coin was preceded in death by a son, Brian Kyle Coin; two brothers, Robert Coin and Carl Coin; and one sister, Callie Owen. Billy Ray Kinder, 69, of Brookland, Ark., died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. Born Sept. 2, 1942, at Charleston, W. Vir., he was the son of the late Isom and Melvina Kinder. Mr. Kinder was retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of service and 15 years of civil service. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Kinder of the home, and one daughter, Taryn Roberts of Norfolk, Vir. BAY - Mr. Doyle Duggin, 62, of Bay, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, near Newport, Ark. He was born in Shelbyville, Tenn., and had lived most of his lifetime in Bay. Doyle retired as a Sgt. 1st Class after 40 years of service in the U.S. Army. He served two tours in the Vietnam War and one tour in the Iraq War. He was a member of the Combat Veteran Motorcyclist Association, the Patriot Guard, Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion Post #0174, and The Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He also retired from Riceland Foods after 25 years of service as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his father, Sammie Duggin, and a son, SSgt. Sam Duggin. He is survived by his mother, Johnnie Duggin of Shelbyville, Tenn.; his wife, Lynda Duggin, and son, John Duggin, of Bay; brothers, Jimmy Duggin and wife Peggy of Christiana, Tenn., and Wade Duggin and wife Debbie of Antioch, Tenn.; sister, Dianne Storr and husband Daniel of Bay, six nephews and three nieces. Funeral service will be Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel in Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Bro. Ken Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Raymond Hugh Alger, Jr., 55, of Paragould, Ark., died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. Born July 14, 1956 in New Hall, Calif., he was the son of the late Raymond and Faye Rolland Alger and had been a long-time area resident. Mr. Alger enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren and working on old cars and Chevy trucks. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mrs. Debbie Alger of the home; three sons, Raymond Hugh Alger III, Patrick Dempsey Alger and Johnny Allen Alger, all of Paragould; one sister, Vonda Moya of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; Raymond Hugh Alger IV, Shelby-leigh Nicole Alger, Alyssa Jade Alger, Johnny Allen Alger II, Bentley Dean Alger and Dgostina Earlene Alger. In addition to his parents, Mr. Alger was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Dean Alger. Betty Ruth Hennesey, 87, of Berrien Center, Mich., formerly of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Trumann, Ark., passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mich. Betty was born March 27, 1924, in Benton Harbor to Clifford and Velda (Kinser) Farquhar, both of whom preceded her in passing. She was also preceded in passing by a son, Greg Allkins, four grandchildren, and a brother, Clifford "Bud" Farquhar, Jr. Betty is survived by a son, Buzz (Gaynell) Wadel of Coldwater, Mich.; sister, Debby (Al) Allerton-Brown of Lawrence, Mich.; grandchildren, Warren (Gail) Wadel of St. Joseph, Lisa Blagg, David VanDyke and Misty VanDyke, all of Trumann, and Monica Wadel. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Matthew, Andrea, Chris, Corey and Ashley; two nieces, Becky and Heather, and one nephew, Tony. Betty spent many years as a waitress and was formerly employed at the Blossomland Restaurant in Benton Harbor, which she eventually bought. She loved to cook, which was evident by the good food served, and she especially enjoyed baking Christmas cookies. Betty was a member of the First General Baptist Church of Trumann for over 20 years. As to Betty's wishes, a private family service was held at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford and she then was laid to rest in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma, Mich.

TRUMANN - Miss Beulah Inez Ragsdale, 91, of Trumann died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Trumann Health and Rehab. She was born in Ravenden, Ark., and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. Miss Ragsdale was a retired seamstress and a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flava Stratin Ragsdale, two sisters and one brother. Survivors include nieces, Carolyn McElyea, Barbara Moore and Marion Lancaster, all of Trumann; nephews, Tony Lancaster, Ralph Moore, Kenneth Lancaster, Keith McElyea, Melissa Herod, Karen Wallace and Viola Willis, all of Trumann, and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Ricky Forbis officiating. Burial was private at Holly Springs Cemetery in Harrisburg, Ark. Thelma Jean Hilburn Hacker, 84, of Portia, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at the Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas, Ark. Born Jan. 10, 1927 at Black Rock, Ark., she was the daughter of the late James Homer and Dora Swindle Hilburn and had been a long-time area resident. Mrs. Hacker had been a member of the Church of Christ for 69 years and at the Portia congregation since 1976. She enjoyed music, sewing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by three brothers, Billy Joe Hilburn and James Danny Hilburn of Portia and Jerry Lee Hilburn of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; two sisters, Reva Dean Doyle of Pocahontas, Ark., and Sharon Rose Turner of Imboden, Ark.; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Clay Hilburn. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at the Portia Church of Christ with Mr. Robert Davis and Mr. Gerald Fears officiating. Burial was in Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock, Ark., under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Ark. The family received visitors Thursday, Dec. 15, from noon until time of service at the church. Pallbearers were Bobby Turner, Jamie White, Kenny Doyle, Tommy Hilburn, Buddy Hilburn, and Jeff Medcalf.

Mr. Herman Utah McDaniel, 85, of Lake City, Ark., left this world to go to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at the Lakeside Nursing Home. Mr. McDaniel was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Big Creek, Ark., to the late John and Hattie Mae Sea Perry. Mr. McDaniel was a member of the Church of God in Lake City and a former truck driver where he was accident free for over 60 years. He enjoyed gardening, truck driving, talking on the c.b. radio and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by four daughters, Judy Russell of Lake City, Shirley Culbertson and husband Bill of Bald Knob, Ark., Brenda Croft of Kansas City, Mo., and Linda Miles of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters-in-law, Shirley McDaniel of Lake City and Connie McDaniel of Cadillac, Mich.; one sister, Evelyn McKinley of Brownstown, Mich. Mr. McDaniel also leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Herman McDaniel, Jr. and Ernest Roy McDaniel; one daughter, Mary Jean Basinger; two sons-in-law, David Russell and Carl Croft. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at the Church of God in Lake City with Pastor Carl Edge officiating. Burial was in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Ark. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ at Carroll's Corner Arkansas with the Rev. Tommy Wilbanks officiating. Interment was in Manila Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family received visitors at the church from 1-2 p.m.

TRUMANN - Mr. James Baker, 76, of Trumann died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. He was born in Jamestown, Ark., and had lived in Trumann for the past eight years and was formerly of Springfield, Mo. He managed a clothing store, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, served in Vietnam and was of the Presbyterian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen E. and Dessie O. Barnes Baker. Survivors include his wife, Joy K. Cox Baker of the home; one daughter, Cathy R. Drew of Batesville, Ark.; two sons, David A. Baker of Hennessee Ark., and Donald E. Baker of Phoenix, Ariz.; four step-daughters, C.K. Dale, Janie Amos, Jackie Lofton and Linda D. Church, all of Springfield, Mo.; two step-sons, Ronald Church and Steve Church, both of Springfield, Mo., six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. TRUMANN - Mrs. Geraldine Kate Fleming, 86, of Trumann, Ark., died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born in Kansas City, Kans., and had lived in Trumann since 1961 and was formerly of Union, Mo. She was a housewife and a member of the First Christian Church in Trumann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace F. "H.F." Fleming; one great-grandson, Andy Arens, and was the daughter of the late John and Lela Kate Lindsey Sturman. Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Johnson of Winfred, S.D., and Tammy Stanley of Bay; four sons, Philip Fleming of Trumann, Craig Fleming of Russellville, and Mark Fleming and Tim Fleming, both of Jonesboro; 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was Wednesday morning, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Harp officiating. Burial followed in the Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Grandchildren served as pallbearers. Visitation was Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. An online register book can be signedatwww.thompsonfuneralhome.net
