We want to thank everyone who had extra duty last week answering the phone and going the "extra mile" in my absence. Thanks go out to Betty Cockrell, Letha Overby, Pat Lee, Lounez Poskey, Gladys Young, Blanche Watts, Mary Jo Lemons, Helen Shinault, Willene Garner and Inez Chapple; I really appreciate all their hard work.

Inez Chapple and Betty Cockrell are helping to pass out Volunteer Certificates to all the sponsors for our Walk-a-thon. Without monetary support, we would be unable to carry on our program. We can't say "thank you" enough to all of our supporters and Mayor and councilmen. Grady Watkins, of Little River Bank, has always been such a great asset to out town, community and Senior Center. We just want to say a special thanks to him.

We would like to invite everyone to a special program for diabetics, but also those who have foot problems of any kind on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Senior Center, 100 Stevens Square. There will be a special time for questions and evaluation concerning your feet. Snell Prosthetic will be conducting the program.

We want to invite everyone to our Open House Wednesday, May 30 from 8-2 at the Center. We will have refreshments and would love to show off our Center. We would like to share information concerning some of our programs in CRDC with Robert Wilford, executive Director. We have a fabulous Head Start Program with Mrs. Charlie Granberry as director. Everyone is aware of the Mary Ann Arnold Childcare in Marked Tree. They have a great staff and volunteers who really enjoy their jobs and helping others. This program provides services to hundreds of pre-school children and their families. Not only in the Head Start Centers, but the program has expanded in partnership with private childcare providers. They will help plan your meals and activities and will supplement reimbursement in the private sector. You may receive more information by calling (870) 931-1172. A licensed childcare provides must serve approved meals and snacks and in turn will receive funds for most of the food cost. USDA approved meals, training and handouts are valuable to a private childcare provider and this program helps in many ways. For more information concerning the childcare food programs you may call (870) 931-6331 or 1-800-753-5827.

Some of the programs under department director, Charlie Granberry are Fisher Street Head Start in Jonesboro; Greene Co. Tech; Paragould Happy Day; First United Methodist Church, Jonesboro; Harrisburg Headstart; Heaven for Children, Jonesboro; Jessups Precious Moments Head Start, Jonesboro and Monette Head Start; Lawrence Hamilton Headstart, Jonesboro-Marked Tree, Newport, Trumann, Swifton, Augusta, Cherry Valley, Cotton Plant, Crawfordsville, Earle, Edmondson, Forrest City, Gilmore, Hughes, Madison, Marianna, Wynne, Wheatley, West Memphis, Parkin, Marion, McCory and Moro. There is also more than one Headstart program in some of the larger areas.

We hope you are becoming more familiar with a variety of programs that we offer through Crowley's Ridge Development Council, Inc. We have a great staff and volunteers that really stretch our budget to do the very best with our tax dollars and match money from our community.

Thank you and have a great week!!
