Herschel A. Worthy

Hershel A. Worthy, 96 of Marked Tree died on Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at Three Rivers Nursing Center in Marked Tree.

Mr. Worthy was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree, a retired plant manager for Wabash Screen Company, a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict in the Army, and for many years was associated with his father, C. A. Worthy, in his grocery business. He also worked with J. R. Featherston wholesale meat supplier, E. Ritter and Company in the cotton buying office, and night clerk at the Travelair Motel.

He was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by one daughter Mary Faith Safier of Atlanta, Georgia and one son, Herschel B. Worthy of Memphis, Tennessee and grand children, Linda Worthy, Bill, Bryan, Judith and Dabney.

The funeral was at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24 at First Baptist Church of Marked Tree with John Lee officiating and burial in Marked Tree Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree had charge of the services.
