Poinsett Co. Sheriff's Department hires two deputies

The Poinsett County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce the appointments of two deputy sheriffs, Matthew Hall and Greg Whitlock, who were recently hired for patrol duties.

Hall, 28, was hired by the Department to patrol the Marked Tree, Lepanto, and Tyronza areas. Matt is a graduate of Weiner High School and attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He has worked as a detention officer at both the Poinsett and Craighead county jails. Hall will live in the Tri-City area and will complete the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course within the next twelve months, Sheriff Larry Mills noted.

Whitlock, 30, was hired by the Department to patrol the Trumann area where he currently resides. Greg is a graduate of Trumann High School and also attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Whitlock attended military police school and currently serves in the Army National Guard. He is married and he and his wife have two children. Whitlock is scheduled to attend the Basic Police Training Course at Black River Technical College in August of this year.

Both Hall and Whitlock are currently receiving training under the supervision of a Field Training Officer while on the job.
