General Election to be held Tuesday
The General Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
Polling places are the Marked Tree Armory, the Lepanto Legion Hut, and the Tyronza City Hall Courtroom.
In Lepanto city races, the mayor is facing five opponents. Mayor Dale Dunlap, James W. "Jimmie" Neal, Mary Ann Deeds, Dwight M. Brown, Mike McCullar, and Craig D. King are all seeking election to the position.
For the position of ward 1, position 1, incumbent William "Pete" Cox is being challenged by Jeff Miles. For the other aldermen positions, Keith Tyler, Michael Hale, David Simmons, Terry Kemp, Leroy Madlock and Charles Mahan are unopposed.
Larry DeWailly and Thomas Boyd, Jr. are both running for Greenwood Township Constable.
In the Marked Tree city races, Mayor Lawrence W. Ashlock, Jr. is being challenged by C.B. Hall and Charles Vick.
City Clerk/Treasurer Pamela J. Wright is unopposed, as well as City Attorney Mike Dabney.
Aldermen Cleo Johnson, Jr., Lonnie Scott, Luddie Hatley, Dean Tucker, Shirley S. Moore, Ritter Arnold and Vestal B. Smith are all unopposed.
In Tyronza races, Mayor Drexel Gill is being opposed by Marion Bearden and Michael Ferguson.
In ward 1, position 1, incumbent Michael Hood is facing Tommy Baine.
There are three candidates for ward 2, position 1: Jerry Collier, Jr., Billy Hood and Sue Bilyeu.
In ward 2, position 2, incumbent Angela D. Lewis faces Sherry London.
Duvvie Brean is unopposed for the ward 1, position 2 seat. John E. "Johnny" Ross is unopposed for the ward 3, position 1 seat. Paul Hindman is running unopposed for the ward 3, position 2 seat.
