EPC volleyball ends season, in tournament

The East Poinsett County senior high volleyball team, coached by first-year coach Gary Williams recently ended its season, competing in the 3AAA District volleyball tournament in Bay.

In a first round match last Thursday, the Trumann Lady Wildcats defeated EPC 15-11, 15-8. EPC was led by Lauren Hale, who scored six kills and Amanda Organ, who scored four assists in the match. Jessica Ross added three aces. On Saturday, Marianna Lee Academy defeated EPC 15-7, 15-8 to advance in the tournament. Amanda Organ led EPC with three assists and three digs in the loss. Melisa Hutson added two aces for EPC, who ends its season at 1-13 on the year. After the finals on Saturday, tournament officials announced All-Conference honors for players in the tournament. EPC was represented by Amanda Organ. This year's season saw EPC pick up its first ever win in volleyball, against AAAAA team Blytheville and grow as a team.
