The Marked Tree Board of Education met Dec. 9.
Robert Boxley made a motion to accept the sole bid of Bassett Welding, Inc. in the sum of $53,362.62 for classroom renovation upon their submission of a performance bond in the sum of the bid and proof of contractor's license. The motion passed.
Ira Whitfield, Sr. left the room and excused himself from discussion of the bid for electrical wiring at the elementary campus. Boxley made a motion to adopt a resolution to do business with Whitfield Electric. All members of the board voted for the motion. Harry Webb made a motion to accept the sole bid of Whitfield Electric in the sum of $9,588.58 to upgrade electrical wiring at the elementary campus. The motion passed.
Superintendent Gary Masters reported to the Board that the roofing project at the high school was nearing completion and should be finished in approximately two weeks provided there is no bad weather.
Boxley made a motion to enter into executive session to discuss personnel. After coming back from the executive session, Webb made a motion to accept the recommendation of Masters to hire Stephanie LeAnn Ferrell as Special Ed Aide for the high school. The motion passed.
In other buisness, Josh Gallion made a motion to authorize Masters to request bids for the sale of old tables and chairs removed from the elementary cafeteria. The motion passed. The Board also approved the minutes of the regular Nov. 12 meeting and accepted the financial report which was presented by Masters and District Treasurer Dee Dee Pace.
