MT Lions adopt a highway

Friday, March 7, 2003

The Marked Tree Lions have entered into an agreement with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department Adopt-A-Highway Program, effective Feb. 3, 2003, and running through Dec. 31, 2004. The Lions have committed to join the state in its goal of litter-free highways and have undertaken the project of picking up litter on a quarterly basis on Highway 63, the mile north of the Highway 75 overpass toward the floodway.

"As we get closer and closer to the time for construction of I-555, it is important that our town look good, both to the traveling public and to those who might choose to settle here due to our convenient location between Jonesboro and Memphis," said Lion president Mike Dabney, who commended Shannon Lucas at the Eyecare Center for her work with the AHTD in finalizing the agreement.
