Tyronza to host Stars and Stripes Jubilee

Tyronza citizens are planning the Stars and Stripes Jubilee to be held on Saturday, May 24, beginning at 10 a.m. in Tyronza, honoring past and present military.

The day will be full of fun events, including a Patriot's Parade of area veterans, floats, decorated vehicles and a special children's section. Other events scheduled are an antique car show, a "Stars and Stripes Search" talent contest, a Kiddie Korral, along with children's games, contests and face painting, arts and crafts, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, BBQ cook-off contest, exhibits including the DARE Car and Emergency Helicopter. A children's car seat safety check will also be provided by city police.

Participation fees are $30 for the BBQ cook-off and basketball tournament and $20 for rental of booth space. Deadline to register is May 16. To register for an event or reserve booth space, contact Chasity Lucas at Tyronza City Hall, 487-2168.

The next planning meeting for the Stars and Stripes Jubilee will be on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tyronza City Hall.
