Willie Lourene Cates

Willie Lourene Cates, 86, of Marion, formerly of Marked Tree, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

She was a member of the Church of God and the Order of Eastern Star. She had worked as a seamstress for Salant and Salant.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ann Sharpe of Newport, N.C., and Kay Griffin of Marion; one sisters, Eva Sharp of Lee's Summit, Mo.; one brother, Billy Wayne Burney of Niles, Mich.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Cates; and a son, Loren Cates.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at the Church of God in Marked Tree, with Patrick Tucker officiating. Burial followed in Marked Tree Cemetery under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the funeral home.
