Blackwood announces re-election bid for JP

Harold Blackwood of Tyronza announced Monday that he will seek another term as Justice of the Peace, District 11, which consists of Tyronza and areas around the city. Blackwood, who is employed by the Northeast Arkansas Regional Juvenile Program as a part-time employee, served seven years with the program as its program monitor. Prior to working there, Blackwood served as the Poinsett County Jail Administrator for four years, working to manage the jail budget, supervising jail staff and overseeing operation of the facility. Blackwood also has served as a Poinsett County Deputy Sheriff for eight years. Of his qualifications, Blackwood said, "My training at the county jail consisted of attending the Arkansas Jail Standards Course, along with the Juvenile Detention Facility Training Program. Serving as a deputy sheriff, I became well award of the roads, bridges and budget problems of the county."

Blackwood currently serves on four Quorum Court committees and currently serves as Chairman of the Governmental and Law Committee.
