Harvey D. Smith Sr., 51, of Bassett died Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola.

Born in Minter City, Miss., he was a farmer and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Smith and Laurjel Smith, both of East St. Louis, Ill.; three sons, Harvey Smith Jr., Amos Smith and Kevin Smith, all of East St. Louis; his mother, Mary Lee Calvin of Bassett; six sisters, Bessie Smith, Mary Washington and Annie Smith, all of Osceola, Rosie Henry of Bassett, Wydell Smith of Sparta, Ill., and Georgia Smith of East St. Louis; three brothers, Lonnie Smith of East St. Louis, Jessie Smith of Killeen, Texas, and Curlee Smith; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday February 28 at First Baptist Church in Joiner. Burial followed in Shady Grove Cemetery at Evadale under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
