Opal Irene Smith

Opal Irene Birdno Smith, 83, of Lepanto was born on April 15, 1921 to the late Samuel David and Ida Bell Birdno in Portia, Missouri. She died at her daughter's residence in Trumann on Tuesday, Feb. 15

She was a homemaker and a member of the Lepanto Church of Christ.

Survivors include three daughters: Linda Powell of Lepanto, Connie Smith of Turmann and Renee Smith of West Memphis; 5 sons: Billy Joe Smith of Plant City, Florida, Jimmy Smith of Lepanto, Paul C. Smith of Lepanto, Jackie Smith of Lepanto and Ronnie Smith of Blytheville; 24 Grandchildren and 34 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Smith and two brothers, Raymond and Charlie Birdno.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto with Gary Masters officiating. Services were under the direction of Memphis Funeral Home-Poplar Chapel.

Pallbearers were the grandsons: Bo Powell, Chad Smith, Anthony Smith, Bryan Ryan, Jerry Carter, Bobby Brumley, Jr., Josh Smith and Jordan Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lepanto Church of Christ or the Billy Powell Memorial Scholarship Fund.
