Ray Henry Phillips

Ray Henry Phillips, 89, of Horn Lake, formerly of Lepanto, died Wednesday, April 27, at St. Frances Hospital at Memphis.

Retired from Frisco Railroad, he was a World War II veteran, serving under Gen. George S. Patton in the African Theater. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include one son, Donnie Phillips of Thayer, Mo.; three daughters, Eunice Olaughlin and Betty Oakes, both of Woodland, Calif., and Mary Neil Denham of Horn Lake; three sisters, Dorothy Barnett of Boaz, Ala., Juanita Wenner of Lutz, Fla., and Ruth Garrison of Howell, Mich.; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Phillips.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto, with Greg Herndon officiating. Burial followed in Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Baxter, Brent McCreight, James Denham, Larry Smith, Donnie Hellums and Phillip Brunner.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
