Elmer Lee Shinabery

Elmer Lee "Shinny" Shinabery Jr., 84, of Marked Tree, died Friday, June 24 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of Marked Tree, he was a retired pharmacist, World War II Army veteran, recipient of the Bronze Star and member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marie C. Shinabery of the home; five sons: Dale Farris of Nashville, Tenn., Randy Shinabery of Marked Tree, Vinson Shinabery of Memphis, Mark Shinabery of Little Rock and E. Lee Shinabery III of Little Rock; three sisters: Joyce Wike of Searcy, Norma Hendrix of Lepanto and Leola Jarrett of Little Rock; seven grandchildren: Lee Shinabery Jr., Stephanie Shinabery, J. Gill Shinabery, Tyler Shinabery, Spencer Shinabery, Leslie Hodgson and Robin Shinabery; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 27 in St. Norbert's Catholic Church at Marked Tree with the Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Burial followed in Crittenden Memorial Park at Marion under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree.

Active pallbearers were Nelson Catalina, Glenn McFarland, Steve Vescovo, Barry Vescovo, Louis Vescovo Jr., Terry Hendrix and Rex Gill.

Honorary pallbearers included Dr. C.C. Swingle, Dr. V.B. Smith, Dr. D.J. Broadway, Gene Hannah, Bill Jennings, Bill Craft and Phillip Calvert.

Memorials may be made to St. Norbert's Catholic Church or Three Rivers County Country Men's Golf Association.
