Baker grew up in Marked Tree and graduated from Marked Tree High School in 1965. He graduated from the University of Arkansas and married Vicki Sturgis in Enid, Okla. on July 26, 1969.
He served thirty-four years of government service, including four years of service in the Air Force, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, in Biloxi, Miss. He retired in 2003, after twenty seven years as a claims representative with the Social Security Administration in Fayetteville.
He was a Christian, loving husband and father who was blessed with a positive outlook, a winning personality and a refreshing sense of humor. Besides being a dedicated family man, he was an avid photographer who enjoyed amusing his friends and relatives with digitally altered photos. His other great joy was traveling with his wife.
Baker was preceded in death by one infant son, his father and his grandparents, Orville and Lucy Bailey and Etta and Dee Baker Sr.
Survivors include his wife of thirty six years, Vicki Sturgis Baker of the home; two sons, Larry D. Baker and wife Angela of Prairie Grove and Chris Baker and wife Beth of Fayetteville; one grandson, Ethan of Prairie Grove; his mother of Marked Tree and one sister, Barbara Ford of Jonesboro.
A memorial Service was held Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Cremation preceded the service.
