He was a retired Air Force Sergeant, a Lepanto Police Officer, a charter president of the Etowah-Lepanto Lions Club, a retired insurance manager, a member of First Baptist Church in Lepanto and a past deacon of Sherwood First Baptist Church in Sherwood.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy "Jo" Neal of Lepanto; one daughter, Connie Steele of West Memphis; three sons, James W. Neal, Jr. of Jonesboro, John Michael Neal of Batesville and Jeffery Scott Neal of Johnson City, Texas; his mother, Helen Blocker Neal of Lepanto; one brother, William Blocker Neal of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 27 at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel with Kenneth Bass officiating.
Burial followed at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto with Murphy Funeral Home in charge.
Memorial may be made to the Lepanto Police Department.
