Cora Frances Walker, 89, of Sherman, Texas, formerly of Marked Tree, died Oct. 7 at Sherman Hospital.

Mrs. Walker, a homemaker, was born January 7, 1917 in Dyer, Tenn., to the late Annie Lea and William Robert Smith of Marked Tree.

She was preded in death by her husband, John Virgil "Slim" Walker in 1998; a grandson, Curtis Walker King of Greenville, Texas; four brother: Leslie Smith of Montezuma, Tenn., Sylvane Smith of Marked Tree, Felton Smith of Hughes and James M. Smith of Memphis.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorris Jean King of Sherman; a son, Dr. Steven Walker of Ada, Okla.; two sisters, Dorothy Hale of Jonesboro and Catherine Vernell Nadler of Lebanon, Ill.; six grandchildren: Shell Papaila of Sherman and Gina Hill of Plano, Texas; BJ, Brooke and Brittney Trail and Jackson Link of Ada and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service celebrating Mrs. Walker's life was held Oct. 13 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman.
