He was the Assembly of God faith and a member of the Masonic Lodge #766 of Marked Tree. He was a Poinsett County Deputy Sheriff for an umber of years. He and his wife celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary on June 17.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Carter.
Survivors include his wife Aline Mae Carter of the home; three sons: J.C. Carter and Jerry Carter, both of Marked Tree, and Gary Carter of Valley View; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday morning at Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree with Rev. Ron Lovins officiating. Burial followed in Marked Tree cemetery.
