OBIT - Nina Pearl "Peggy" Gillespie

Nina Pearl "Peggy" Gillespie, 72, of Snow Lake, departed this life on August 16, 2007, at 1:45 p.m. She fought cancer with her grateful spirit; she never complained or shed a tear. She was more concerned with everyone else's well being, instead of her own, until the end. Her love, strength and courage will live on in our hearts forever.

Peggy was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. She loved playing cards, dominos and washers with her family and friends, working in and out of her garden, canning, and providing the fruits of his labor for her family and friends. She was a member of Greenbrier Baptist Church. She was an amazing mother with many talents, which included cooking and sewing. She was an inspiration to her family, full of love, forgiveness and grace. She truly lived and obeyed, 1Cor. 13:4 "Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; loves does not brag and is not arrogant."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Gillespie, and her parents, both of Pleasant Ridge, Ky.

She is survived by John Campbell, her beloved companion of 14 years; one daughter, Lisa McClelland and husband, Paul McClelland of Beebe; three sons, Danny Gillespie and wife, Merry Gillespie of Snow Lake; Randy Gillespie and wife, Tracy of Alexandria, Va.; Robert "Bo" Gillespie and wife, Cassandra Gillespie of West Memphis; one grand daughter, Lauren Ashley McClelland three grandsons, Jimmy Gillespie, Logan McClelland and Charles Joseph Gillespie II; along with Iris Ivy, Franklin Ivy, Daniel Macias; three great grandchildren of Snow Lake; and one brother, Marvin Earl "Bub" Burden; three sisters, Rosa-Lee Roach, Linda Sutherland and Mary-Ann Taylor; along with several nieces and nephews all of Kentucky.

The services were at 3 p.m. on August 18, 2007, at Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree. Reverend Jim Mattson conducted the services. The pallbearers were Jimmy Gillespie, Logan McClelland, Johnny Campbell, Franklin Ivy, Roger Carmen and Brent Benton. Honorary pallbearer was Charles Joseph Gillespie II.
