Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Waterford, Miss., to John and Golie Henderson.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and found her greatest pleasure being surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lepanto for over sixty years. She taught Sunday School classes and served on numerous committees. She owned and operated the Western Auto Store along with her husband, Cordell for over 15 years. She also worked at the St. Francis Valley Motor Co. and at the East Arkansas Health Clinic in Lepanto. After retiring at age 72, she remained active in her church and community. She worked diligently with a committee to get a day care for Lepanto. The day care opened as Lepanto Wee Care and served pre-school children. Mrs. Jones enjoyed reading to the children on a regular basis.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Lou Jones of Lakeland, Tenn., and Nancy Bramlette of Little Rock. She also leaves five grandchildren, Susan (Keith) Thompson of Allen, Texas., Brian Bramlette of Little Rock, Carrie (Jimmy) Young of Little Rock, Matthew Jones and Jennifer Jones of Alpharetta, GA., and two great grandchildren Morgan Bramlette of Little Rock, and Oliver Thompson of Allen, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cordell Jones; her son Bobby Jones;
two brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church Feb. 28 with Rev. Jim Duffel Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Lepanto, conducting the services. Music was provided by Rhonda Benton, Mitzi Malone, Lisa Tyler and Jim Duffel.
Pallbearers were Tim Benton, Eddie Boon, Stan Hattle, Mike Jennings, David May, Kevin Pilgrim, Cletus Tacker, and Kevin Truelove. Honorary Pallbearers were John Henderson and Jimmy Smothers.
Burial was at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto with Murphy Funeral Home in charge.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Three Rivers Nursing Center for their devoted care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Lepanto or to the John Henderson Scholarship Fund, Little River Bank, Lepanto.
