Cynthia H. Austin, 74, of Memphis, Tennessee, died Wednesday, May 30, at the family residence in Memphis, of natural causes.
Austin was born in Savannah, Tennessee, and had lived in Memphis for the past 30 years and was formerly of West Memphis and Tyronza. She was a retired nurse for the St. Jude Hospital in Memphis and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hershel Austin in 1975; one brother, Jay L. Austin in 1990; and was the daughter of the late Lewis and Anna Bell Tanner Horton.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy A. Jordan of Senatobia, Mississippi and Jannette A. Douglas of Southhaven, Mississippi; one son, Robert Earl Austin of Trumann; three step-sons, Randy Davis of Walls, Mississippi, Terry Davis of Sarasota, Florida and Keith Davis of Coffeeville, Mississippi; three sisters, Mary Davis, Betty Saxton and Susie Daniels, all of Savannah, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday morning in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Father Jack Harris officiating. Interment followed at Tyronza Cemetery in Tyronza.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Goodman, Shannon Douglas, Charlie Douglas, J.J. Dean, D.J. Lester and Danny Austin.
