Anderson receives Tom Cole Award

Trumann Fire Chief Gary Anderson received the Tom Cole Award for this year. The award is given each year in honor of Tom Cole. Mr. Cole and others went to Little Rock and petitioned legislature to get money for a fire training site at Jonesboro. After he passed away this award was made in his honor. The award is offered to any citizen in Northeast Arkansas and is given annually by the Northeast Arkansas Firefighters Association. The Trumann Fire Department nominated Anderson.

Anderson has been a fireman for the past 24 years. He has risen through the ranks from a hoseman to his current position of Fire Chief. He has held various positions in the Northeast Firefighter Association including President. He has been involved in local charitable events such as Make A Wish Foundation and Walk for Life, he has also served at Lions Club president. He has also received the citizen of the year award for Trumann.
