Youth group collecting "Pennies from Heaven"
The Trumann First United Methodist Church Youth Sunday School class ise raising money for the children of St. Jude's Hospital.
They will be set up Saturday, Nov. 8 in front of Wal-Mart on Hwy 463 in Trumann. The group is involved in a mission project entitled, "Pennies from Heaven."
Each Sunday one of the youth takes a collection of pennies from members of the congregation as they enter the church. The collector is responsible for counting and recording the money. The girls involved in the program are Caitlyn Brune, Autumn Kemp, Morgan Baker, Mallory McClung and Christine Cole. Camille Timbs is the teacher.
Each girl was given a pail to decorate to collect their pennies in. Once a month the teens pass their pails for a special offering while Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra or Louie Armstrong croon the "Pennies from Heaven" song.
They have already raised over $300.
