Wednesday, December 14, 2005

There has been a lot of discussion and many people have questions about the mineral lease process. With this in mind Poinsett County Farm Bureau, Statewide Farmers Risk Management and Poinsett County Cooperative Extension Service have joined efforts to offer a free, informational meeting for the public. This meeting is designed to provide participants with non-biased information that will enable them to make better decisions in relation to mineral leases.

Two informational meetings are open to the public on "The Mineral Lease Process." oth meetings will be conducted on Monday, Dec.19 with the first meeting starting at 2 p.m. in the Weiner High School Gymnasium and the second meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Harrisburg High School Cafeteria. The two meetings have the same format so are offered in two different locations for convenience.

Speakers for the evening will be Lawrence Bengal, director of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission; Scott Bruner, deputy director of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission; Jon Harris, district petroleum supervisor of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission; Bekki White, state geologist and director; and Mr. Dan Hash, attorney for the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission. A presentation is slated for the meetings and they agreed to host a question and answer session after the presentation.

The Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, martial or veteran status, or any other legally protected status, and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means for communication or program information (large print, audiotapes, etc.) should notify the county extension office as soon as possible prior to the activity.
