Charles Howard "Captain" Bobbitt

Charles Howard "Captain" Bobbitt Sr., 84, of Jonesboro died Saturday, July 22 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Formerly of Trumann and St. Louis, he was born in Bono and had lived in Jonesboro since 1998. He was a security guard for Wells Fargo, veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II, mason with the Beacon Masonic Lodge in Hazelwood, Mo. and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Novie Lorraine Holman Bobbitt in 1991; a son, Charles Howard Bobbitt Jr. in 2004; one sister; one brother and his parents, Charles Homer and Minnie G. Broom Bobbitt.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Lynch and Joanne Buss both of Spartanburg, SC; two sons, John Bobbitt and William Bobbitt both of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.
