Joseph Mark Chestnut
Mr. Joseph Mark "Joe" Chestnut, 41, of O'Fallon died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from injuries he received in a truck accident in Miami, Okla.
He was born in Trumann, November 13, 1965, to Claude Sr. and Lou Ella Luckett Chestnut. He was a truck driver for Averitt Express and was formerly an employee for MDR Cartage, Inc., Dana Corp., Delta Inc. of Arkansas and Roach Manufacturing. He was a member of the West End Church of Christ in entitled, preaching the powerful gospel. Since completing this preacher training course four years ago, he preached part time for congregations in Marked Tree, Trumann, Columbia, Farmington, Potosi, Foristell, Mo. and in the St. Louis area.
Chestnut was preceded in death by his father, Claude Chestnut Sr. in 1988.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 10 years, Tammy Windle Chestnut of the home; two stepsons; Anthony Lewis and Eric Richardson of Chicago; loving mother, Lou Ella Chestnut of Trumann; eight sisters; Shirley Calvert of Memphis, Louise Wallace of Detroit, Mich., Flora Mitchell (Joe), Mickie Wallace, Jacqueline Richardson (Tommy) of Trumann, Margaret Ijdakinro (Victor), Alma Smithwick (Curt), and Ada Chestnut of Jonesboro; nine brothers, James Wallace of West Memphis, Ocie Wallace Jr. (Clara) of Millington, Tenn., Jessie Wallace of Blytheville, Charles Wallace (Dorothy), Arthur L. Wallace Sr. (Annie), of Jonesboro, Carl Wallace (Fay) of Oakland, Calif., Claude Chestnut of Trumann, Dock Chestnut (Leslie) of Earle, and Ray Chestnut (Karen) of Bono and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 20 at the Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann with Joe Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Darrell Williams, Patrick Hilson, Arthur Wallace Jr., Corey Wallace, Kenny Thompson, Chris Mitchell and Kevin Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will include Anthony Lewis, Eric Richardson, Joe Mitchell, Tommy Richardson, Curt Smithwick and all the brothers.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday April 19 at the Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 23 at the Church of Christ, 761 Hwy T in Foristell, Mo. with Kevin Rutherford officiating.
