Trumann man needs community support

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

The Chaffin family of Trumann received devastating news recently when Jamie Chaffin, 35, was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Doctors also informed the family Chaffin was only born with one kidney making the illness more complicated.

Chaffin has already begun seeing doctors in Little Rock and surgery to remove the cancer has been set. Chaffin's mother said doctors are going to try and leave any part of the kidney unaffected by the kidney intact, but said they were told removal of the entire kidney was probable.

After his surgery Chaffin will be put on dialysis and be put on a donor list for a new kidney.

Chaffin attended Trumann High School and his parents are Floyd and Sharon Chaffin. The family expects to be making many trips to Little Rock and explained finances were very tight for them.

Any help covering their expenses would be greatly appreciated by the family. They can be reached at 870-284-7409, or 11763 Combs Lane, Trumann, AR 72472,
