A year of milestones
It's officially 2008! I know people get agitated when a 26 year old mentions feeling old, but I do feel old! 2008 sounds like something out of a science fiction movie to me. However, the funny sounding year does mark a few milestones for me.
The start of 2008 marks the beginning of my fifth year working at the newspaper. It seems like just yesterday I walked through the door for the first time. It was lunch, and I found myself at an empty office terrified to answer the phone because I had basically no answers to any question someone might ask.
Yes, I've come a long way since then. I've made a lot of friends and gained a new appreciation for community journalism.
My first day of work was also my birthday. This year I will turn 27 on Jan. 5. It's a little bit of a scary number for me. I'm sliding down the scale a lot closer to 30 than 20. And, as my mother reminds me, I'm getting old and need to start having children soon if I plan to do so. Thanks, mom. No pressure, right?
That brings up another milestone for me. This May will mark mine and Josh's fifth wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe so much time has flown by! We plan to celebrate with a week-long getaway to Colorado. I can't wait!
This January will also mark the one year anniversary since we bought our first home together in January.
Yes, I'm looking forward to 2008. Perhaps it will bring about new milestones that I will be celebrating for many years to come.
