Abbott was born in Lepanto and had lived in Trumann for the past 55 years and was formerly of Harrisburg and Lepanto. He was a retired welder for the former Singer Company and member of the Trumann Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Dot) Abbott; one daughter, Janiece Smithson; one sister; six brothers and his parents, Kid and Della Abbott
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda and (Kenneth) Linton of Trumann; one son, Monroe Junior Abbott of Paragould; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 29 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Myles Evans officiating. A Masonic burial followed in the Potter Cemetery in Lepanto.
Pallbearers were Larry Linton, Allen Linton, Derrick Smithson, Tommy Sanderson, Joey Abbott and Brandon McClaughlin. Honorary pallbearer was Eugene Mott.
