Stars and Stripes Jubilee is May 17

Wednesday, May 7, 2008
It's time once again for the Tyronza Stars and Stripes Jubilee. The event is set for Saturday, May 17 in downtown Tyronza. Things will kick off at 10 a.m. with a three on three basketball contest and a horseshoe contest. Arts and craft booths along with food vendors will be open for business at 10 a.m.

There will be a parade at 11 a.m. followed by an official welcome at noon.

The day will feature many events for children with the children's games being held from 12 -- 2 p.m. A variety of contest for children to participate in will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. The competitions will include a watermelon roll, watermelon eating contest, water relay, sack races, three legged races, hula hoop contest and water balloon toss.

Four wheeler mud races will begin at 3 p.m.

Music is always an exciting part of the Stars and Stripes Jubilee. The Tyronza Idol will return this year with competition beginning at 5 p.m. There will also be a street dance at 8 p.m. and different bands will be playing at the festival throughout the day.

Anyone wishing to participate in the parade, or those needing more information, should call the Tyronza City Hall at 487-2168.
