Farmer's Market to have grand opening

Thursday, July 3, 2008
The Tyronza Farmers Market will have its grand opening from 4 -- 8 p.m. Thursday, July 3 in downtown Tyronza.

There will be many locally grown items for sale including squash (crookneck, zucchini and pattypan), cucumbers, eggplant, tomatoes, peaches, plums and onions, baked goods.

There will also be homemade baked goods such as cookies, fried pies, breads and cupcakes as well as home crafted items such as bird feeders and other crafts.

The Tyronza City Library is making and selling homemade ice cream and the NEA Indians baseball team is cooking ribs, chicken and Boston butts.

The market is still seeking vendors. Items to be sold should be homegrown or produced within 75 miles of Tyronza. Acceptable items may include fruits, vegetables, honey, nuts, fresh breads, cakes, pastries, cut flowers, plants and any other agricultural related products. Handcrafted items produced by the vendor can also be sold including soaps, candles and handcrafted furniture. Handcrafted items must be approved by the market manager.

There will be a $5 booth rental fee.

There will also be a music corner at the market where artists may perform for tips. No amps are allowed. There is no charge to reserve a time spot on the music corner but reservations are required.

Vendors interested in renting a booth at the market and entertainers wanting to make reservations for the music corner should contact Linda Hinton at the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum in Tyronza or call 487-2909.
