Say high to the new guy
As many of you may know, the Trumann Democrat is going through a bit of a transition. Carin left to pursue a teaching career and we of course wish her well. But in the coming weeks, months and hopefully years to come, Ruth Ann and I will continue to bring you the most up to date and relevant news that you have come to expect in the Democrat about what's going on in Trumann. We'll also be introducing some new features that we hope you will enjoy and find interesting and fun to read.
That said, an introduction is no doubt in order. Though originally from a town of about 9,000 in western Massachusetts -- yes, I am a damn Yankee -- I have been coming to Trumann since 2001 and have called Trumann home since 2006. I married a gal from Trumann in 2002 and have spent many pleasant holidays and weekends in Trumann over the years. I've been a journalist for almost ten years now and my career has taken me to newspapers in New Mexico, Florida, Utah, Alabama, Arizona and Arkansas. Some of you may know me from my days at the Jonesboro Sun where I was the business reporter for the last two years.
I'm excited about joining the Democrat and look forward to meeting all of you. I doubt I will be writing a weekly column like Carin did, unless I have something I really want to say or share with you. But I think you will enjoy what we have in store for you. So don't be a stranger. If you see me out at a meeting or an event, come on over and say hello. Or, stop by the office for a chat. We also welcome your suggestions and story ideas and news tips.
