Local residents will be able to drop off recyclables at the Trumann Wal-Mart parking lot from 8 a.m. until noon. Members of the Chamber Marketing Committee will be available to assist residents in unloading recyclables and placing them in the proper bins.
The following recyclables will be accepted: aluminum cans, plastic drink bottles, plastic hangers, plastic pharmacy bottles, paperback books, fabric patterns, shredded paper, plastic bags, shrink wrap, newspapers, cards and envelopes and magazines.
Patterson announced that the marketing committee will also help the city of Trumann officially launch the city's newly finished recycling on Saturday, Oct. 25. The new city facility is located on Oak Street in front of the city shop.
The city facility will be accepting newspapers, magazines, cardboard and metal items. The Chamber recycling program, dubbed "Trumann Goes Green," is the first step in a year-long effort to clean up the city of Trumann and its streets and neighborhoods. The local chamber is sponsoring the program along with another campaign asking citizens to "Take Pride in Your Community."
