Chamber banquet is March 12
The Marked Tree Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their annual banquet at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at the Marked Tree First United Methodist Church. There will be a silent auction and dinner prepared by the "Methodist Chicks."
Dinner tickets are $15 each and may be purchased in advance at the chamber office at Marked Tree City Hall. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Junior Palmer from Paragould will be the entertainment. He has recently appeared on KAIT-8 demonstrating his "power of hooey sticks."
"Come on by and see what the 'hooey' is all about," said incoming chamber president Sheri Hendrix. "Maybe you have the power of hooey and just don't know about it."
The chamber will also be awarding the Indian Chief Award, Community Spirit Award and Golden Apple Award.
The Indian Chief Award goes to a business that has gone above and beyond to help out in the community, and the Community Spirit Award goes to a business or individual who donates time and energy for the betterment of the community.
The Golden Apple Award goes to a teacher, past or present, who makes a difference in the lives of students.
Those wishing to write a letter of nomination for the awards should submit it to the chamber office at 1 Elm Street by Friday, Feb. 27.
