Father, son arrested for meth production

Thursday, March 26, 2009
A father and son were arrested in Lepanto Friday night when officers discovered the duo were allegedly producing methamphetamine inside their vehicle.

Michael Jones and his son, Bradley Jones were stopped by Trooper Rocky Rapert for a traffic violation. Trooper Rapert talked with the two and grew suspicious of their actions. Trooper Rapert called for K-9 Tess of Marked Tree to conduct a drug "sniff" of Jones' truck.

Officers from Lepanto and Poinsett County Sheriff's Department assisted as Tess conducted her search of the outside of the vehicle. Tess alerted on the vehicle which gave grounds for a complete search of the vehicle.

During the search, officers located a "one-pot" methamphetamine production inside the passenger compartment of the truck. The 20 ounce bottle was "venting" at the time causing a strong chemical odor. Two other 20 ounce bottles were located in a coat belonging to Bradley Jones. One was actively working, the other had already completed its process.

A hazardous materials clean-up crew from Little Rock responded to clean up the hazardous materials located in the Jones' vehicle. All three bottles are considered hazardous and explosive due to the chemical make-up inside the bottles.

Bond was temporarily set at $100,000 cash for each of the Jones'. They are to appear in the Poinsett County Circuit Court on April 27, before Judge David Laser.

Jeanna Grissom of Payneway was also arrested by Lepanto Officers for possessing an instrument of Crime. Her court date is set for April 6.

I hope the judge on this case looks closely at all the evidence and does a fair judgement on both sides. I am a concerened citizen and am sick and tired of sitting back and watching as certain people get off and get set free time and time again. When it comes to Micheal Jones it seems that he always gets away with his crimes and I think if the shoe fits then let him wear it for a change. As for Bradley Jones this may be the best thing for him. Finally something that can help staighten his life up and get him help as far away from his messed up father as possible. Bradley has a whole community that loves and cares for him and wants to see him become the man that we all no he can be, not the man his father is and has tried to turn him into become. If you do the CRIME... Be willing to do the TIME...
