Albert Olan Smallwood, 74, of Bay, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Mr. Smallwood was born in Joiner, had lived in Bay for six years and was formerly of St. Louis. He was a retired auto mechanic, car dealer and drag racer who loved to fix cars and sell them.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Georgie Kay Smallwood; one grandson, Keith Smallwood; and by his parents, Virgil and Flora Evett Smallwood.
Survivors include his wife, Dorris McGill Smallwood of the home; three daughters, Rhonda Halbert of DeSoto, Mo., Debbie Gail Smallwood of St. Ann, Mo., and Jane Ann Smallwood of Trumann; one step-daughter, Donis Camden of Arnold, Mo.; one step-son, Orlan Helt of Missouri; one brother, Jimmy Smallwood of St. Ann, Mo.; six sisters, Charlene Launders of Texas., Bobbie Smallwood of Houston, Texas, Yvonne Purcell of Gerald, Mo., Pat Chatman of Owensville, Mo., Becky Smallwood of Trumann, and Diane Hernandez, of Ft. Worth, Texas; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held Saturday in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with James Frye and Dennis Jackson officiating.
