Homeland right about extremists

Thursday, June 18, 2009
A few weeks ago the Department of Homeland Security released a report saying we could be facing terrorism threats from right wing extremists. Conservatives in print and on FOX News completely ignored the word "extremist" and used the report to claim the Obama Administration was accusing all conservatives of being terrorists. They ranted and raved long enough and loud enough that the department issued an apology for the report.

Guess what happened?

In the space of 11 days, two right wing extremists committed murder because of their extremist views.

Scott Roeder, whose antiabortion views were so extreme that his wife left him over them, shot and killed Dr. George Tiller during a church service. Tiller was targeted because he was one of the few doctors who performed late term abortions. Bill O'Reilly regularly referred to him as Tiller the baby killer on his show.

Regardless of how you may feel about abortion, there are two things you should keep in mind. First, abortions, even late term ones, are legal in this country. Second, there are times when a late term abortion should be an option. It could be because the health of the mother is at risk, or the fetus could be severely mentally or physically handicapped.

Just as the issue of Tiller's murder was sinking in, James Von Braunn, an anti-semite, white supremacist, who thinks the Holocaust is a hoax, walked into the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and started shooting. He claimed one victim, security guard Stephen Johns, before he was wounded by the other guards.

This is just a thought, but have you ever noticed that every time you see a picture of a white supremacist he doesn't look superior to anybody?

It would seem that Homeland Security knew what it was talking about. In fact, since these actions proved the point, Rush Limbaugh went on the air to claim that these two murderers were really on the left, politically. I think he really believes that.

For those of you who aren't clinically insane, do you think that someone on the left, who would usually support abortion rights, would shoot a doctor who performed them? Do you further believe that a white supremacist would kill that guard because he supports our first African-American President? Rush actually said that on his show.

I was halfway kidding when I wrote that Rush was losing his mind, but now I'm not so sure. He came back the next week and claimed that healthcare costs so much because of all of the people who work out or play sports. Somebody needs to throw a net over him and head for the nearest nut house.
