Rev. Billy Ray Moore

Rev. Billy Ray Moore, 75, of Trumann, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Trumann, he lived most of his lifetime in the Trumann and Black Oak area.

He was a retired minister and a member of the First Assembly of God in Trumann. Rev. Moore was preceded in death by one sister, two step-sisters, one half-brother and his parents, Alvin Moore and Lula Mae Chaney Pulley.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Emma Jean Fortson Moore of the home; two daughters, Dorothy and Frank Davidson and Kathy and Mike Ashford both of Jonesboro; three sons, Bill Moore of Ft. Smith, Ark., James and Shirley Moore of Springfield, Mo;, and Danny Moore of Jonesboro; one sister, Betty Jean Chappel of Naples, Fla., two step-sisters, Ruthie Ann Faulks of Panama City, Fla., and Betty Mott of Michigan. Three half-brothers, Jerry Moore of Blytheville, Ark., Bobby Joe Moore and Tommy Moore of Caruthersville, Mo., one step-brother, James Fields of Caruthersville, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at the First Assembly of God in Trumann with Rev. Kenneth Doke and Rev. Jerry Ferguson officiating. Burial followed in the Bolivar Cemetery near Harrisburg with Thompson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
