GoogleTommy Spray, 65, of 16110 Hinds Lane, appeared before District Court Judge Ron Hunter in Harrisburg Monday for a probable cause hearing for allegedly shooting Seth Tucker, 30, of Nashville, Ark. to death on Saturday.
Poinsett County Chief Deputy Chris Holt said county dispatch received a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. Saturday about a shooting at 16110 Hinds Lane near the St. Francis River north of Trumann.
"Deputies responded and they found several people standing outside the residence and one man was dead," Holt said.
Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Butch Davis.
Investigators are still uncertain about the motive at this time, but Holt said it appears there had been some type of party going on.
Holt said deputies took several individuals into custody and questioned them, including Spray, who was cooperative and admitted he was responsible for the shooting.
"During questioning he confessed that he had shot Seth Tucker," Holt said. "He was very calm and cooperated."
Holt said Spray had a .22 semiautomatic pistol on his person which police believe was used in the shooting.
Tucker's body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for a determination of an official cause of death.
"We just have a preliminary report," Holt said. "We're still waiting on the report from the M.E. (medical examiner)."
According to a posting on a local Internet forum by a person claiming to be the victim's mother, Pamela McKinnon, Tucker was shot while trying to break up a fight. McKinnon said Spray allegedly had been saying he was going to kill her son for several weeks.
"That's one of the stories," Holt said. "I'm not going to comment on that because the motive and cause is still under investigation. There are still so many people to interview and re-interview."
Holt said Spray and Tucker knew each other.
The shooting is the first homicide investigation this year in Poinsett County.
Spray is being held in the Poinsett County Detention Center on $10,000 bond and will be arraigned July 31 in Poinsett County Circuit Court.
Second degree murder occurs when a person knowingly causes the death of another person under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life, or with the purpose of causing physical injury to another person that results in death.
If convicted, Spray could face six to 30 years in prison.

Tommy married my Dad's sister. Tommy had a daugter who had a child with my dad. the child is now 18. 7 years ago Tommy found out, 32 yrs before my dad's death. He harbored this anger. Living out on the leavy talking of murder, saying if he knew he wud die tomor there are several he wud take out. My brother started dateing Tommy's granddaughter and they are expecting a child. THis fulled Tommy's rage even more. he made verbal threats to Seth and seized the opportunity to carry it out and had no remorse. My brother had given his heart to the Lord and was fired up about life, the women he loved, her daughter and their unborn child. Tommy must pay. A child will grow up never knowing his father. My mother and father lost there only child. Sarah lost her love and I lost my Bubba. In Heaven we shall be reunited. But i ask the news and police. Get the cell phone records, recordings of all calls made, look at how the Sprays story has changed and ask anyone to come forward that knew of the death threas Tommy Spray had been makeing. 3yrs before my Dad's death, and my brother dateing Tommy's granddaughter fulled his anger. the very day of his death my brother retold Sarah that tommy had been makeing threats. Tommy's daughter came and got them for the bonfire ut she passed out and there ride left, leaving them there for the nite. Tommy knew when he pointed the gun at my brother and pulled the trigger he was aiming to kill, then sticks th gun to Sarah as she's leaning over my brother crying. i know he wanted him dead but i just wish the man wud honestly say why. bad blood doesnt' excuse the fact that his grandaughter was pregnant with Seth's child. if Tommy had any heart he wud of shot to wound.
I rather not say who I'am. However, I was there the night of the shooting and there was never no gun pointed at Sarah, that is an out right lie. Sarah, was distraught and i know for a fact that her and seth were argueing themself. I would take a lie detector test too ans wear that Seth told me himself that that baby was not his and she did too. Robby told me after the shooting had happen that He and Seth were argueing because he (Robby) was thinking about going back to his wife and Seth was picking at him about it and it made Robby mad. Now as far as any crap about uncle tommy planning to to kill Sethmwho knows, lots of people make comments thatey would never carry out. Uncle Tommy shot the gun When Seth yelled you want a piece of me! yelling at Robby and Robby yelled back yes i do and when he did he accidently hit aunt brenda in the face not meaning too of course and she went down and I yelled myself oh mygod! he hit aunt brenda and thats when uncle tommy shot Seth now meaning to kill him, no i do not think so. But he wouldn't have had the feelings he had if sarah hadn't complained about Seth all the time and not only just to me either. I love Sarah but she young and vunerable, no one seems to care that she married to one man and carrying anothers baby rather it's Seths or not right? I was there and I have no hard feelings toward no one there not even Robby even though he threatened my husbands life for all the garbage. But you gotta place blame on someone right? If Seth was so fearful for his death to be taken by someone he feared so dreadfully why? why in gods name would he go out there drinking? i'm not saying that he deserved what happen because he didn't. I liked the boy, heck i was doing cpr on him untill the police made me stop said he gone to move back. You know I don't know where you got your info that tommy's daughter brought Seth and Sarah out to his house that night! but you don't have a clue what your talking about! Brice brought becky, Sarah and Seth to uncle tommy's. No one passed aout and left them out there!. Not one of his daughter was drunk Becky went to bed early with the baby and Belinda wasn't even drinking. So get your story strait. murder is murder. you do time. plain and simple.Vengence is the Lords. Just keep my brothers name out your mouth unless you talking about the change God made in His life. I said nothing bad about Seth, if you would go back and read what i said you would plainly see that i said i liked him. i'm just saying that no ones ride ran off and left anyone, if you would go read the police report instead of guessing, i done cpr on your brother untill the police got there, i love sarah, i just know what seth and she had told me, and what robby had said, if he was such a christian then why was he drinking and pilled up they did an atopsy you know
