Librarian Janie Teague said during the last several months, they have put new paneling on the walls. Additionally, they have re-arranged the placement of items in the museum as well as add new pictures to displays.
Work on the Trumann Museum began in 1987 with Juanita Talbot.
"This was her vision," Teague said. "She had a lot of these items and just wanted to display them for the community."
Talbot and Patsy Lindsey started to work on the museum project.
"Word spread that they were doing this and items just poured in," Teague said.
She said the Singer plant closed and they donated several items. They have several military uniforms, memorabilia from Trumann High School and other schools in the city and on the outskirts, movie posters from the Maxie and a row of seats from the Grand theatre. There are pictures from several floods, the cotton compress and baseball great Wally Moon.
"We have already had a few people come out and really enjoy it," Teague said. "We are really looking forward to seeing everyone at the grand re-opening."
Teague said they are always looking to add more to the museum. Those who have an item they may want to donate may contact Teague at 483-7744. She said they will also accept financial donations as well.
"We always need funding," she said.
