Betty Jean Walker-Phelps, 77, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009. She was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Marked Tree, the daughter of William and Clinton (Holbrook) Walker, Sr.

Betty grew up in Marked Tree, graduating from Marked Tree High School. She took care of her family and was very involved with First Baptist Church, including teaching three to five year-olds in Sunday school and singing in the choir. Betty loved social gatherings that honored her savior, Jesus Christ. Those who served with Betty will always remember her enthusiasm and joy in fellowship with other believers. In 2000, she moved to Montana to be closer to her family after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Betty was a friend to everyone she met and she touched the lives of everyone who crossed her path. Betty always wore a smile and never thought of herself first. She was kind, caring and generous to a fault and was loved and respected by her family and friends. She loved the Lord and her family above all things.

Betty is survived by her children, Diana Phelps and David Phelps; grandchildren Shawn Webb, Joshua Moore, Ryan Wilson, Zachariah Phelps; and great-grandchildren Amber Webb, Nikki Emmons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ralph Lewis Walker, Sr., Herschel (Davie) Walker, W.T. (Martha Sue) Walker Jr., C.D. Walker, Robert Walker; and half-sisters Mildred Durham and Thelma Browder.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Sat., Dec 5, at First Baptist Church in Marked Tree. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer's Association, Montana Chapter, 3010 11th Ave. N., Billings, MT 59101.
