Marked Tree High School rated among state's best

Wednesday, January 27, 2010
U.S. News and World Report has selected Marked Tree High School and Bentonville Schools as being among the two best in Arkansas, awarding each a Silver Medal. For the last two years, MTHS has received a silver medal from the internationally recognized publication. Perhaps thirty schools in the state were awarded a bronze medal. However, this year, MTHS was recognized even to to a higher level being among only two schools in the state to achieve this award.

A well recognized web site called schooldigger has recognized MTHS as the sixth most desirable high school in Arkansas. Schooldigger is often used by parents searching for the best schools.

MTHS was only one of five schools in the state to be awarded a College Access Grant Award of $25.000.

MTHS was one of the highest rated schools on the Low Grade Inflation Index, being rated at 2.4 per cent. Other schools in the area, received significantly more negative ratings. In partnership with ASU, MTHS was the recipient of a Class Casting Grant.

Several of these remarkable awards will be explained further in my article in the next weeks.

You may call me biased as the President of the School Board and local attorney, but these are facts. Parents and stakeholders can be proud of the leadership and teachers in the school district.
