Girl Scouts close to goal

Thursday, January 27, 2011

The local Girl Scouts are over half way to their cookie sales goal.

According to local Girl Scout Leader Terri Dunham, the Poinsett County troops had a goal of selling $3,000 worth of cookies. They are two-thirds of the way to their goal as well as a dramatic change for the leaders.

"We had to challenge the girls to the $3,000 sales goal," Dunham said. "If they make their goal, they will cut my hair and (co-leader) Kate Rochester's hair short And they will get to color Shannon Deason's hair purple."

All proceeds will go toward service projects for the local troops. The projects include donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis and to Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

A special offer the local troop is offering is a Gift of Caring.

"With this you can buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies and have them sent to the troops in Afghanistan," Dunham said.

Cookies will be delivered the week of Feb. 14. The troop will have a booth at Walmart on March 12. They will be at a location in Bay at a later date.

Tor purchase cookies or get more information, contact Dunham at 870-227-9896; Rochester at 870-227-0933; or Deason at 870-227-1080.
