Tough loss for Indians
The Marked Tree Indians dropped a heartbreaker at home Friday night, falling to the Buffalo Island Central Mustangs, 58-54, in 2A-3 conference action. The Indians trailed 16-9 after the first and 28-23 at intermission, but were able to strike back to tie the game at 40-40 heading into the final stanza.
BIC answered back, though, as balanced scoring by the visitors--the Mustangs had four players notch double digit accounts in the scorer's book--proved to be too much for Marked Tree to overcome.
Darius Ivy continued his outstanding play for the Indians, finishing with a game-high 26 points. Allen Buchanan and Thadious Moore added 11 and 1o points, respectively, for the Indians.
With the loss, Marked Tree fell to 3-10 in 2A-3.
The Indians are set to host Cross County beginning at 6 p.m. Feb. 11. Marked Tree will take part in the district tournament at Caraway beginning Feb. 14.
The Junior Indians will take part in the junior district tournament at Cherry Valley beginning Monday, Feb. 7.
