Lady Wildcats struggle in losses to Brookland and Valley View
The Trumann Lady Wildcats had a tough outing Friday night, falling to host Brookland, 54-23.
The Lady Wildcats had to take the court with only five players suited up, staring down the long bench of the Lady Bearcats. Trumann was without the shooting and ball handling skills of starter Kelly Guthrie on the evening. Guthrie strained her ACL last Thursday against Osceola. With only five players, the Lady Wildcats just couldn't overcome the Brookland full-court pressure early, allowing fatigue to come into play in the second period.
The numbers game got even worse for the Lady Wildcats when Courtney Toddy fouled out with just over two minutes left in game, forcing Trumann to compete with only players on the court.
The Lady Bearcats led the entire contest.
Courtney Toddy paced Trumann with nine points. Also scoring for the Lady Wildcats were Julia Jones 6, Morgan Taylor 6 and Sara White 2.
Kayla Kee led Brookland with 14.
The Lady Wildcats continued to struggle Monday, falling to the conference 4A-3 leading Lady Blazers of Valley View, 49-17, in Trumann.

Brookland led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter, but picked up momentum in the second frame when Trumann got into foul trouble.
